The Butterfly Felt Right at Home and really, where else would it go? A burnt orange leather butterfly chair sits in the middle of a sun-drenched glasshouse, ferns and tropical blooms pressing in from every side, warm light pouring through the domed glass ceiling above. It is the chair that decided a living room was simply not enough, and it was absolutely right.

Inspired by the iconic Butterfly Chair, also known as the BKF or Hardoy Chair, first designed in Buenos Aires in 1938 by Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan and Jorge Ferrari Hardoy. One of the most recognisable silhouettes of the mid-century modern movement, its distinctive sling-and-frame form has been reinterpreted endlessly, and here it finds itself exactly where it belongs, surrounded by living things and golden light.

My designs are for the maximalists, the romantics, the bold souls who believe a home should feel like something. The ones who walk into a room and think the walls look a little too quiet, surely we can do better than that.

I have always been drawn to art with feeling, work that pulls you in, holds your attention and makes a space feel lived-in and loved. The Butterfly Felt Right at Home does exactly that.
